Our Ideal Candidate
Allnorth is currently seeking a Junior Surveyor / Survey Assistant to join our team in British Columbia. You are a motivated and dependable field professional who is interested in building your career in surveying and geomatics. You enjoy working outdoors, are comfortable in a hands-on field environment, and bring strong attention to detail and a commitment to working safely.
We are particularly interested in candidates with previous line locating or utility locating experience. You will work alongside experienced survey professionals and support a variety of field survey activities on projects throughout British Columbia. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your surveying experience while contributing to a diverse range of civil, construction, and infrastructure projects.
A Day in the Life
- Assist survey crews with a variety of field survey activities
- Perform and assist with line locating and utility locating activities
- Support construction layout, topographic surveys, and as-built surveys
- Assist with establishing and maintaining survey control points
- Collect, record, and manage accurate field data
- Set up and operate survey equipment under the direction of experienced survey professionals
- Support staking and layout activities for civil and construction projects
- Maintain accurate field notes and documentation
- Work safely around active construction sites, utilities, equipment, and varying terrain
- Travel to project sites throughout British Columbia as required
What You’ll Bring to the Team
- Previous line locating or utility locating experience is strongly preferred
- Previous surveying, construction, civil, utilities, or related field experience is an asset
- Education in Geomatics Engineering Technology, Surveying Technology, or a related field is an asset
- Familiarity with survey equipment and technology is an asset
- Experience with Trimble survey equipment is considered an asset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Technical competence and strong attention to detail
- A high level of dependability and a willingness to learn
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and field conditions
- Willingness to travel and work at project sites throughout British Columbia, including remote locations when required
- A valid driver’s licence is required for this position
