Overview
The Respite Program is seeking a compassionate, experienced caregiver 2:1 Support Team to support an engaging 18-year-old young man with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and severe cognitive impairment.
He is funny, gentle, shy, and non-verbal. He enjoys spending time outdoors on walks and bike rides, completing puzzles, watching animal shows, and participating in other calm, meaningful activities. We are looking for caregivers who are patient, dependable, and committed to building a trusting, long-term relationship with him.
This is a 2:1 support position, with services beginning as hourly respite to establish a relationship, build rapport and become familiar with his routines and support needs. The long-term goal is to transition to providing overnight respite in the 2 caregiver's home approximately 1–2 nights per month, when appropriate.
This young man benefits from caregivers who understand positive behaviour support and can respond calmly, confidently, and respectfully when he experiences periods of dysregulation or presents with challenging behaviours.
Compensation
- Hourly respite: $25.00 per hour, per caregiver
- Overnight respite: Paid on a per diem basis
