Position Summary
Fabian’s Fort Contractors is seeking an experienced and motivated Journeyperson Carpenter to join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in residential and commercial construction projects while helping mentor apprentices and labourers. This position requires strong carpentry skills, leadership abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Construct, install, repair, and maintain residential and commercial structures.
- Perform framing, finishing, renovations, maintenance, fencing, deck construction, railings, stairs, and related carpentry work.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, metal, and other construction materials.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes and safety regulations.
- Conduct quality control inspections and identify corrective actions when required.
- Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely.
- Mentor and supervise apprentices and labourers.
- Complete daily safety documentation, including FLHAs and site inspections.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, subcontractors, and team members.
- Assist with project planning, material take-offs, and job-site organization.
Qualifications
- Valid Journeyperson Carpenter Certificate or Red Seal Carpenter Certification.
- Minimum 5 years of carpentry experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of residential and commercial construction practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Knowledge of Alberta building codes and safety regulations.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- CSTS 2020
- Standard First Aid/CPR
- Fall Protection
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP)
- Confined Space Awareness (asset)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, kneel, climb, bend, and work in physically demanding environments.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work at heights when required.
