Key Responsibilities:
- · Conduct various laboratory testing procedures in accordance with SOPs to verify product quality and compliance
- Handle and operate sensitive laboratory instruments, including but not limited to:
- Gas Chromatography (GC)
- Liquid Chromatography (LC, HPLC)
- pH meters
- Analytical balances
- Spectrophotometers (UV-Vis, IR, etc.)
- Viscometers
- Titration equipment
- Moisture analyzers
- Density meters
- Karl Fischer Titrators
- Particle size analyzer (Mastesizer 3000+ and Bettersizer 2600)
- ICP-OES
- Perform sample preparation, testing, and data interpretation with precision and accuracy
- Record all test results and analytical data in the designated formats
- Maintain and update equipment records and daily laboratory logbooks
- Assist in ordering laboratory supplies and ensure proper calibration and maintenance of instruments
- Follow all laboratory safety protocols, including proper handling of corrosive, flammable, and hazardous chemicals
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory environment in accordance with company policies
- Support method development and validation for new formulations as required
- Collaborate with the QA/QC team and production staff to address quality-related concerns
- Create formulation blend sheets under customer manual specifications
- Create Certificates of Analysis (COA) for QC products under customer requirements
- Assist in customer related trial operations with Quality team
- Other duties related to product quality testing and laboratory operations, as required
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Education: College Diploma or University Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a Lab Technician Program (Postgraduate degrees will be given preference)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a laboratory and/or industrial environment
- QA/QC Knowledge: Understanding of laboratory quality control programs and compliance requirements
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
- Attention to Detail: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to follow SOPs precisely
- Mathematical & Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) for data analysis; strong mathematical knowledge is an asset
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs occasionally
- Teamwork & Initiative: A proactive and trustworthy individual who can work independently and within a team
- Class G driver’s license
- Microbiology experience is considered an asset
Working Conditions:
- Given the nature of production, shift work may be required during peak seasons, depending on production schedules
- Work is performed in both a laboratory and a busy plant facility. Primarily at 51 Clearview Dr. lab – assistance at other sites (Plant 8, Aylmer may be required)
- Prolonged periods of standing and conducting tests may be necessary
- Overtime, as required
