Nupqu Resource Limited Partnership, associated with Ktunaxa Enterprises Ltd., is a growing First Nations-owned business. With offices in Cranbrook, Castlegar, and Fernie, BC, Nupqu provides environmental, biological, archaeological, forestry, contract management, and safety-related consulting services to clients throughout the Southern Interior Region. We are currently seeking highly motivated, organized, and responsible individuals to join our integrated vegetation management team.
The integrated vegetation management positions will consist of seasonal, full-time employment based in the Castlegar, Cranbrook, and Fernie offices. The duration of the contract will be negotiated based on the applicant's location, availability, and contract requirements. The successful candidates should have relevant experience and qualifications which align with the roles and responsibilities outlined below.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform on-site assessments of vegetation conditions.
- Identify and collect survey data on the invasive plant species present and their associated plant growth on percent cover, density, and distribution.
- Select appropriate management and control practices for the site that meet client objectives and regulator standards.
- Apply various treatment methods such as mechanical hand-pulling, clipping, or mowing, and chemical herbicide treatments to control invasive species and vegetation.
- Maintain accurate records of the vegetation management activities, including treatment areas and amounts of herbicides used.
- Safe and accurate mixing, storing, and transporting herbicides.
- Safe operation of company equipment, such as trucks, trailers and side-by-sides.
- Safe operation of specialized equipment such as herbicide sprayers.
- Digital mapping and data collection of invasive plant inventories and treatment data.
- Collect and interpret vegetation population data and monitor efficacy.
- Completing daily tailgate meetings, job hazard assessments, vehicle inspections, and equipment inspections.
- Follow safe working practices and adhere to company and client policies and safe work procedures.
- Regular communication with the project manager and clients on coordination of crew logistics and project progress.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- B.C Pesticide Applicator Certificate (5-year Industrial vegetation and noxious weed)
- Invasive and local plant species Identification
- Basic First Aid Certificate
- UTV Certificate
- Physically fit and be able to work in all weather conditions
- Computer and iPad proficient
Work will take place in the Castlegar, Cranbrook and Fernie areas.
