Job Summary:
The Logistics & Shipping Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day execution of Uni-Fab's shipping and logistics function. This is a hands-on role that combines daily logistics coordination with continuous process improvement. The successful candidate will prepare shipping documentation, coordinate company drivers and freight carriers, manage transportation activities, and work closely with Production, Project Management, Warehouse, Purchasing, and Quality to ensure products are delivered accurately and on-time. As Uni-Fab continues to grow, this individual will help develop and strengthen the logistics function through improved systems, standardized processes, and future team development.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Operational Responsibilities:
- Prepare Bills of Landing, commercial invoices, customs documentation, and shipping paperwork.
- Schedule company drivers.
- Coordinate outside carriers and transportation providers.
- Plan daily pickups and deliveries.
- Communicate with Project Managemeent, Production, Warehouse, and Customers regarding shipment status.
- Monitor Ready-to-ship activities and coordinate shipment priorities.
- Resolve day-to-day shipping and transportation issues.
Department Development
- Improve logistics workflows and communication.
- Develop standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Monitor logistics KPIs and identify improvement opportunities.
- Standardized documentation and shipping processes.
- Recommend future improvements to support business gorwth.
- Maintain accurate and timely shipping information to provide visibility for production, Project Management and Customers.
Leadership Expectations:
- Take ownership of Uni-Fab's shipping and logistics function.

- Coordinate daily shipping activities while remaining actively involved in the wrok.
- Develop standardized procedures that allow the department to grow overtime.
- Prepare the logistics function for future expansion as workload increases.

As Uni-Fab continues to grow, this role is expected to evolve by:
- Expanding stnadarized logistics processes.
- Improving shipping visibility and planning.
- Supporting future administrative resources as workload increases.
- Transitioning routine administrative work through documented procedures when additional respources become available.
- Increasing focus on logistics planning, process improvement, and operational coordination.
Qualifications:
- College Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management or related discipline. OR equivalent manufacturing logistics experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing shipping, logistics, transportation or supply chain operations.
- Experience in areas including: manfuacturing, domestic and cross-border shipping, freight coordination, career management, customs documentation, ERP systems (Epicor will be an asset)
- Prior supervisory or team leadership expereience is preferred.
