Responsibilities:
- Assemble test rigs comprised of large bolted structural members (Reaction frames, Trunnion plates).
- Install, commission and maintain test rig hydraulic systems and/or components (lay and flush tubing, fabricate hoses, install and service pumps, filters, coolers, actuators, servo-valves, accumulators).
- Proficient with hydraulic tube bending, flaring, and hose fabrication.
- Install\Remove landing gears and other aircraft system components (wheels, retract actuators, drag braces, side braces, and uplocks) into test rigs following detailed engineering installation procedures.
- Perform test rig configuration changes.
- Perform daily inspection and greasing activities on active tests, documenting any abnormal wear and tear or changes in test article performance.
- Document and sign-off on key activities per stringent Quality Assurance procedures.
- Participate in daily work planning and prioritization meetings.
- Participate in Test Rig and Test Hydraulic design reviews.
- Share responsibility and take ownership of organizing and maintaining key test department support facilities and related equipment and tools (Machine shop, Welding Shop, Hydraulic shop).
- Actively participate and comply with all SAFRAN and or Government Health and Safety (HSE) initiatives and best practices.
- Prepare and participate in a variety of departmental internal and external Quality audits.
- * Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, boom lifts, scissor lifts; using HSE approved rigging and operating procedures.
- Proficient with tube bending, flaring and hydraulic hose making.
- Tolerate a constant changing priority environment based on factors beyond the department's control.
- Modify and fabricate test rigs and fixtures.
- Participate in less well-defined, rapid test rig design, assembly and commissioning activities in support of R&D efforts.
- Participate in cost estimation for work proposals.
- May be required to supervise and / or give direction to contractors.
- Research and suggest purchasing options for tools and equipment.
- Research technical specifications and operational guidelines for existing, tools, hydraulic components, fasteners and chemicals.
- Maintain acceptable cleanliness levels in test lab and associated work areas.
Candidate skills & requirements:
Graduation from a technical college with Millwright, Maintenance or Hydraulic technician or equivalent certification. [apprenticeship]
* 5 – 10 years' experience in general millwrighting or aircraft maintenance.
* Good critical thinking and decision-making skills. Able to prioritize.
* A strong desire to learn with excellent mechanical/hydraulic aptitude.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
* Ability to operate a variety of hand and machine tools (drills, mag drills, grinders, reciprocating saws, chop saws, band saws, lathes, and mills)
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and hydraulic schematics
* Experience with hydraulics including tube bending, flaring and hose fabrication and installation.
* Experience with fabrication and welding.
* Ability to work shifts and overtime when required
Pay: $67,300.00-$84,100.00 per year
Experience:
- aircraft maintenance: 5 years (preferred)
- general millwrighting: 5 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Millwright, Maintenance or Hydraulic Certification (preferred)
