MobilGrain is now hiring labourers and experienced MOW Equipment Operators for work on our seasonal tie gang. The tie gang will work on our two shortline railroads, Big Sky Rail and Last Mountain Railway, during the months from spring thaw to fall freeze-up. There is a possibility of staying on full-time over the winter for the right candidate.
The position is based in Delisle SK (20 mins west of Saskatoon) but the majority of the work is elsewhere on the two rail lines. This position will include nights away from home - accommodations and meals will be covered by the company.
Duties may include:
- operating track units in a safe, efficient, and appropriate manner
- performing daily inspections and minor equipment repairs
- assisting in unload/distribution of track material (rail, ties, spikes, plates, etc.)
- correcting deviations in track surface, alignment, and gauge
- crossing repair work
- culvert repair work
- weed/grass trimming
- maintenance of railroad switches
- operation of tools and/or equipment
- upkeep of sidings
The successful applicant must:
- have a strong work ethic
- willing to keep an open mind (tasks will not be the same every day)
- be committed to working safely and responsibly
- willing to work in a positive, respectful environment
- be a team player, willing to pull their weight to get the job done
- have a valid driver's license
- experience operating track equipment (Spiker, Plate Jack, Spike Puller, Snow Fighter, Tamper, Regulator, etc.) is an asset
- railroad and/or agricultural background is an asset
- successful pre-employment drug and alcohol test required
