Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Deli Assistant Manager to oversee daily operations within our deli department. This leadership role requires a proactive individual with strong customer service skills, retail management experience, and the ability to manage a team effectively. The ideal candidate will ensure the deli runs smoothly, maintains high standards of quality and cleanliness, and provides exceptional service to our customers. Bilingual abilities and prior supervisory experience are highly valued to support diverse customer needs and team coordination.
EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED
Duties
- Supervise daily deli operations, including food preparation, merchandising, and inventory management
- Lead and motivate the deli team to achieve sales goals and maintain excellent customer service standards
- Manage staffing schedules, recruiting, onboarding, and training new team members
- Oversee purchasing, pricing strategies, and store merchandising to optimize sales and profitability
- Handle cash register operations, cash handling, and POS transactions accurately
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, sanitation standards, and company policies
- Develop marketing initiatives to promote deli products and increase store traffic
- Monitor sales performance, conduct performance reviews, and implement training & development programs for staff
- Assist with budgeting, bookkeeping, and administrative tasks related to deli operations
- Address customer inquiries or complaints professionally, ensuring a positive shopping experience
Experience
- Proven supervisory or managerial experience in retail sales or food service environments
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise teams effectively
- Excellent communication skills; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customers
- Experience with POS systems, merchandising, purchasing, and inventory control
- Knowledge of pricing strategies, sales management, marketing techniques, and store management principles
- Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail in cash handling and bookkeeping tasks
- Ability to manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment; experience in training & development is preferred
- Familiarity with budgeting processes and administrative responsibilities within retail settings
