Primary Purpose
The Library and Learning Commons Student Assistant is responsible for supporting the UCW Library, including offering basic reference assistance to students at the circulation desk, assisting with general operations within the space, acting as a front-line support for users in the library, and providing administrative and project support to Library/Learning Commons staff.
This role reports to the Library Manager and will work alongside our team, made up of full-time and part-time Librarians, Library Assistants, and other Student Assistants.
Specific Responsibilities
The Library and Learning Commons Student Assistant will at various times, be responsible for the following, as well as other related duties as assigned to support the business objectives and purpose of the Company:
- Maintain a friendly and helpful attitude while greeting and assisting all Library/Learning Commons visitors.
- Provide excellent service through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
- Perform a wide variety of administrative tasks, including data entry and the drafting, editing, and revision of reports and other materials.
- Provide circulation support of library materials and help users navigate the physical and virtual library spaces and services.
- Provide support for organizing and facilitating meetings and special events.
- Maintain accurate information in various databases.
- Maintain confidential student information.
Comply with all UCW rules, procedures, and guidelines.

Education and Experience
- Minimum of two years of customer service, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working either professionally or as a student in a post-secondary environment is an asset, but not required.
- Must be a current UCW student.
- Must be available to work various shifts with a focus on weekdays between 9-5pm (with occasional evening or weekends as needed)
