About the Job
Seeking a talented Shunt Driver to move commercial highway trailers within our yard at the Delta, BC Branch. We have over 1,000 rental units that require an experienced driver to perform numerous moves throughout the day.
Main duties will be to locate chassis’s in our yard for our customers, hook them up and move them into the shop and wash bay. Must be able to accurately perform thorough chassis inspections and written damage reports.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate shunt trucks to move commercial trailers within the yard and service areas
- Able to park and drive in confined spaces
- Conduct pre-operation inspections of heavy equipment, including checking fluid levels, brakes, lights, and safety features
- Accurately write/record unit numbers and damage found on equipment
- Able to drive other equipment such as a forklift and canlift
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a secure working environment for yourself and others
- Assist with basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting minor mechanical issues on shunt trucks when necessary
About You
- Class 1 Driver's License, preferred but not required
- Clean Driver's abstract is required
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts, shunt trucks, or similar vehicles
- Forklift certified preferrable
- Strong understanding of safety regulations related to commercial driving and heavy equipment operation
- Able to work independently and follow direction
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and ensure smooth operations
- Positive Attitude, a team player that everyone can rely on to come to work on time, and who takes pride in the work that they accomplish
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift heavy objects, and perform manual tasks throughout shifts
