Your Day-to-Day Role As a Dispatcher, you’ll be at the heart of the action:
- Prepare shipping documents, verify orders, and coordinate with transportation teams.
- Track incoming and outgoing trailers
- Ensure all pallets are properly labeled and sent to correct destinations to prevent discrepancies.
- Communicate with warehouse staff to maintain workflow and operational efficiency.
- Prepare and verify shipping manifests, bills of lading, and customs documentation.
- Cross-check cargo weight, dimensions, and contents against packing lists and purchase orders.
- Identify discrepancies like overages, shortages, or damages and communicate with internal stakeholders.
- Utilize warehouse and inventory management software AS400 to update shipment statuses in real time.
- Ensure all cargo shipments comply with transportation, safety, and Canadian regulations
- Responsible for overall productivity within the designated team - ensuring timely and accurate picking, packing and shipping of orders. Ensure products are stored, picked, and shipped in compliance with company quality standards, including correct labelling.
- Manage and coordinate operational activities to ensure the required level of service is provided to the customer.
- Operate and oversee the proper use of warehouse equipment such as forklifts, hand-held scanners.
- Implement and enforce health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment, reporting any safety incidents, near misses, or equipment malfunctions in a timely manner.
- Conduct team briefings as required and ensure effective communications across teams.
- Maintain daily contact with the relevant Account Manager to ensure any updates or end of day issues are addressed
- Communicate issues/information to the Manager e.g. delivery schedules, warehouse accuracy, or general warehouse queries
- Ensure all team members are aware of the standard of performance required and pro-actively manage day to day performance and conduct issues with the support of local management
- Resolve any arising problems or complaints.
- Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager
What we’re looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 to 5 years of experience in dispatching within the trucking industry
- Proficiency with computer tools (ISAAC, AS400 — a plus)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Available to work on-site, 5 days/week (starting between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.)
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 pounds
