Position Summary
The Inventory Controller is accountable for the accuracy, integrity, and control of all inventory transactions across finished goods and raw materials. This role ensures timely, precise inventory processing aligned with Supply Chain KPIs, supporting operational efficiency and minimizing stock discrepancies and lost sales opportunities.
This position plays a critical role in inventory optimization, reconciliation, and performance reporting. The Inventory Controller works cross-functionally with warehouse, purchasing, production, sales, and logistics teams to ensure inventory visibility and alignment across the business.
Success in this role requires strong analytical capability, process discipline, and advanced proficiency in Google Sheets, and Excel.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Accuracy & Transaction Control
- Maintain accurate, real-time inventory records across all systems (Google Sheets, Excel).
- Execute cycle counts and full inventory audits to ensure data integrity and system alignment.
- Investigate, reconcile, and resolve discrepancies between physical counts and system records.
- Ensure all inventory transactions are processed accurately and on time, including:
- Monitor inventory movements including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and sales activity.
Reporting & Performance Analysis
- Prepare and maintain accurate inventory reports including stock levels, usage, variances, and valuation.
- Analyze inventory trends to identify risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Support tracking and reporting of Supply Chain KPIs, including inventory accuracy, turns, and service levels.
Inventory Optimization & Process Improvement
- Monitor inventory levels and support replenishment, stocking, and relocation decisions.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Logistics teams to improve inventory flow, availability, and utilization.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve inventory control processes and best practices.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Partner with warehouse, purchasing, production, and sales teams to align on inventory priorities and availability.
- Communicate inventory discrepancies, risks, and location changes to relevant stakeholders.
- Support production scheduling inputs and inventory planning activities.
- Location & System Control
- Maintain accurate inventory location tracking within all systems.
- Ensure timely updates and communication of location changes to Account Management and Operations teams.
Inventory Exception Management
- Process and document damaged, obsolete, or returned inventory, including disposition (repair, return, or disposal).
- Identify root causes of inventory discrepancies and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Health & Safety
- Adhere to all workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in required safety training and promote a culture of safety.
- Identify and report hazards or unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain.
- Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel (formulas, data analysis, reporting).
- Experience with ERP or inventory management systems (EXOnet preferred).
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment (forklift, pallet jack) is considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in inventory management or supply chain.
- Forklift certification.
- Experience with both manual and system-based inventory processes.
