DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To use nursing process in providing patient care. To participate as a member of the Health Care Team and the Nursing Team. As an individual practitioner, to maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current practice. To maintain nursing records. Travel between Lakeridge Health sites required. To perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college;
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);
- Current B.C.L.S;
- Updated nursing skills including Aseptic Techniques and Patient Assessment Courses;
- Current Certificate in Medication Administration;
- Minimum 2 years' experience with providing care for renal patients in Acute Care settings (emergency department, acute inpatient units, critical care) is required;
- Evidence of continuing education related to the requirements of the position;
- Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standard as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario;
- Effective organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving and teaching skills;
- Ability to effectively prioritize work;
- Proven communication skills to effectively interact with patients and their families, physicians and colleagues;
- Physically capable of performing the duties of the position in order to lift, turn, and transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids;
- Must have satisfactory performance record;

- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area
