Cambrian College’s School of Engineering Technology has an immediate requirement for a Full-Time Civil/Mining Technologist on a leave replacement basis until December 2026.
Reporting to the Chair, Schools of Engineering Technology and Environmental Studies and in conjunction with department coordinators, the incumbent will:

Plan, supervise organize, and maintain shop/lab facilities in a safe and efficient manner

Collaborate with faculty in the design, modification, acquisition, and installation of laboratory procedures

Provide assistance and direction to students in the shop/lap while controlling and overseeing shop/lab areas while students are conducting projects assigned by faculty

Maintain, repair, log and dispense surveying equipment

Liaise with course professors regarding student performance and progress; assist with the evaluation of student’s lab performance.

Explain the correct procedures and principles; where required, demonstrate and coach the prescribed skills taught by faculty in the formal academic setting.

Attend and participate in regular faculty meetings to provide input and feedback to faculty regarding lab experiences and effectiveness.

Coordinate and prepare responses including reports, research, and new initiatives when identified.
Required:
-
Minimum of a three-year diploma/degree in Civil or Mining Engineering Technology. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application).

Minimum of a three-year diploma/degree in Civil or Mining Engineering Technology, along with a minimum of three years work experience using and maintaining surveying and other equipment relating to the fields of civil engineering technology and/or mining engineering technology, including electronic distance measuring equipment

Experience using mining, geology, and civil engineering equipment

Self-directed individual with the ability to balance multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
