Job Description
DFS Projects is seeking a skilled, hands-on Yard Coordinator to join our specialized transportation team. In this role, you won't just be managing a yard, you will be a critical backbone of our heavy haul operations. You will work directly with our dispatch and shop teams to configure highly specialized equipment, handle local oversized freight deliveries, and keep our yard operating at peak efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
- Trailer Preparation: Collaborate with dispatch to configure and assemble specialized trailers for upcoming heavy haul jobs (including installing pin-on axles and assembling modular trailers).
- Equipment Maintenance & Care: Fuel and wash trucks/heavy equipment; assist the shop team with road tests and wheel retorques.
- Yard Logistics: Maintain total organization and cleanliness of the yard, ensuring secure storage of dunnage, chains, and heavy-duty tarps.
- Freight Handling: Execute local pickup and delivery of oversized and over-dimensional freight when required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensing: Must hold a valid AZ Driver’s License (Required).
- Experience: Proven experience handling flatbed, over-dimensional, or oversized freight.
- Aptitude: Mechanically inclined with strong problem-solving skills and a high attention to safety/hazard identification.
- Flexibility: Ability to work irregular hours as dictated by specialized project schedules.
- Resilience: Ability to work well under pressure and communicate effectively with dispatch, drivers, and shop mechanics.
Preferred Skills & Physical Demands
- Experience operating forklifts safely in a busy yard environment.
- Physical capability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and comfortably lift heavy equipment/gear (50+ lbs regularly).
- Previous background working in transportation, logistics, construction, agriculture, or heavy equipment industries.
