Job Description:
Position Purpose summary:
The Community Service Worker provides general support to various services in the Community and Family Services setting for Khi Community Church.
Accountabilities:
Client Services and Programs
- As directed, support pre-planned program activities for the community (food bank, crafts, sports, games, music, homework stations, etc.
- Work in a team setting supporting various tasks and activities
- Provide general administrative support greeting and forwarding visitors to appropriate areas, supporting reception etc.
- Provide general assistance during public relations events and regular campaigns
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all matters pertaining to the program participants
- Adhere to policies and procedures relating to the programs.
- Work in compliance with the Ontario Health & Safety Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures
Perform other position related duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This is a temporary part-time position based on 30 hours per week
- Flexibility in scheduling is required, and schedule may vary from week to week.
- This job requires reaching, bending, and stooping frequently, working in a standing position for long periods of time.
- The working environment is typically in the food bank /warehouse in generally agreeable conditions.
- May be required to move/lift to 30 lbs.
Normal hours of work: The hours of work and work schedule will be set by the supervisor as per operational requirements which are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and includes a ½ hour unpaid meal break where applicable. Some weekend and evening work may be required.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Submit as required a Police Record Check that is acceptable to The Salvation Army in its sole discretion.
- This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the following represents the applicant criteria:
- aged 15 to 30 years at the beginning of the employment period.
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*; and,
- holds a valid Social Insurance Number; and,
- be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
- Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible
- An ongoing condition of employment is the ability to maintain immigration status to legally remain and work in Canada which is supported by valid immigration documents.
Canada Summer Jobs Program requirements apply. Individuals who required employer-specific work authorization (e.g., international students on study permits) are not eligible under this program. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must meet program eligibility requirements, including age and legal status criteria.
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
- Completion of some high school course work is required
- CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training or willingness to complete once hired.
- Current, valid Safe Food Handling Certification or willingness to obtain.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge
- The incumbent must have one year of related experience.
Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.

- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $21.03 with a maximum of $25.23.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
