Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Landscape/Hardscape Laborer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a passion for building outdoor spaces, and the ability to work with stone, concrete products, and construction tools. This role focuses on hardscaping projects such as retaining walls, paving stone installations, and site preparation. The Hardscape Laborer will work closely with other team members to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
Duties
- Assist in the construction of retaining walls (e.g., Allan Block, Basalite, Keystone).
- Install paving stone patios, walkways, and driveways, including base preparation, grading, and compaction.
- Perform site excavation, grading, and backfilling using hand tools and equipment.
- Safely move, place, and set large stones, boulders, and feature rock.
- Operate skid steers, excavators, and compaction equipment as required.
- Assist with concrete pads and edging installations.
- Move and stage materials such as gravel, sand, soil, stone, and block around job sites.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Work collaboratively with the team to meet project timelines and quality expectations.
Skills & Qualifications
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable personal vehicle required for transportation to and from job sites.
- Experience with hardscaping construction (pavers, retaining walls, stonework) preferred.
- Proficiency in operating landscape and construction machinery (skid steer, excavator, compactor) an asset.
- Knowledge of base preparation, grading, and compaction techniques.
- Familiarity with construction tools (cut-off saws, plate tampers, levels, etc.).
- Ability to lift, move, and transport heavy materials (stones, blocks, bags of aggregate).
- Strong mechanical aptitude to assist with equipment upkeep.
- Team-oriented attitude with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Physical stamina to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
