Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Office Assistant / Specialist Secretary specializing in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Duties
- Manage patient appointments, confirmations, and follow-up schedules with enthusiasm and precision.
- Prepare and organize patient charts, medical records, and documentation to ensure seamless clinic flow.
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks such as medication administration and patient care procedures under supervision.
- Answer patient inquiries via phone or in person, providing clear information about appointments, procedures, and follow-up care.
- Coordinate with other departments to facilitate diagnostic tests, referrals, and treatment plans efficiently.
- Maintain accurate medical terminology usage in all documentation and communication.
- Communicate Colonoscopy prep instructions clearly and sympathetically to patients.
- Manage EMR chart updates, track incoming lab/imaging/pathology reports, and liaise with referring primary care physicians.
- Maintain a warm, welcoming environment for patients undergoing complex GI workups.
Requirements
- Proven hospital or clinical experience demonstrating familiarity with medical office operations.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology relevant to gastroenterology and hepatology, with an understanding of procedural workflows.
- Experience in patient care activities, including assisting with procedures or medication administration.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy healthcare setting.
- Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with diverse patient populations.
- Basic understanding of medication safety protocols and administration procedures.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems - specifically Accuro and general office software.
