We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Marine Ship Agent to manage port calls and vessel operations on behalf of ship owners, operators, and charterers. The successful candidate will act as the primary local representative for vessels, ensuring smooth coordination with port authorities, terminals, service providers, and crew while maintaining high standards of compliance, efficiency, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the principal point of contact for vessels calling at port
- Coordinate vessel arrivals, berthing, shifting, and departures
- Liaise with port authorities, terminals, pilots, tugs and other government authorities as required.
- Arrange marine services including bunkers, freshwater, provisions, spares, crew changes, and repairs
- Prepare and submit port call documentation, declarations, and reports
- Monitor vessel schedules and provide accurate ETA/ETD updates to principals
- Ensure compliance with local port regulations.
- Handle husbandry matters and crew-related requests
- Track port costs, disbursements, and prepare pro forma and final DA statements
- Provide 24/7 operational support during vessel port calls
- Resolve operational issues promptly to minimize delays and costs
- Be able to attend ships when in port
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience as a Marine Ship Agent or in port/vessel operations is an asset
- Seagoing experience or shipping industry background preferred but not a must
- Strong understanding of port operations, documentation, and regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple vessel calls simultaneously
- Proficient in MS Office and port management systems
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends
