In Production, we use cutting edge technology such as density sorting, optical sorting, flash detente HL2, Stars and so much more!
We are seeking a CELLAR HAND based in our West Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, Production facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting up, operating, and sanitizing all equipment used in the processing of grapes, juice and wine.
- General cellar duties, including racking, transfers, filtering and additions.
- Barrel work including preparing barrels, filling barrels and racking wine from barrel
- Cleaning and sanitation of tanks, barrels, processing equipment, pumps, hoses and the production facility.
- Participating in bottling and disgorging activities.
- Performing red wine fermentation cap management techniques such as pump overs and punch downs.
- Following written and/or verbal instructions and SOPs.
- Basic understanding of winemaking equipment such as pumps, destemmers, presses, filters and forklifts.
- Maintain a safe, clean and healthy work environment. Adhere to current WorkSafe best practices and regulations, safety SOPs and company code of conduct.
- Other duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous cellar experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Winemaking education is an asset.
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs.
- Ability to perform continued physical activity, including standing for extended periods of time, walking, pushing and pulling. Ability to safely climb ladders and catwalks repeatedly.
- A passion for continuous improvement and cleanliness.
- Must have a valid Class 5 drivers license for business travel between locations across the Okanagan in good standing.
- Forklift driving certificate is an asset.
- Must be able to work longer and varying hours and a variety of shifts during peak periods including harvest, bottling and disgorging.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000 per annum.
It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, education, experience, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
