Blacktop Traffic Service Inc. is presently accepting applications to fill various openings for Traffic Control Persons and Temporary Workplace Signers.
In this role you will regulate the flow of road traffic, pedestrians, and cyclists through temporary workplaces to keep them and those in the work zone safe. Using a Stop/Slow paddle the TCP/ TWS will indicate whether motorists, pedestrians, or cyclists must stop prior to entering the temporary workplace or to proceed with caution.

- Temporary Workplace Signer -$21.25 - $23.25
Responsibilities
- Set-up (or assist set-up of) traffic signs, cones, drums, and barricades around job sites
- Direct vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists safely through work zones
- Communicate with fellow team members to manage traffic flow
- Identify and report safety hazards or incidents to Supervisors / Managers
- Follow instructions from Supervisors / Managers
- Adhere strictly to all company and industry safety protocols
- Perform other duties as assigned on-site
- Ensuring temporary workplaces are signed in accordance with provincial requirements
- Ensuring all equipment required for the day is loaded on the truck prior to departing
- Interacting with clients in the field to understand scope of work and level of traffic control required
- Ensuring Traffic Control Persons are following all safety policies in the field
- Acting as a Traffic Control Person while crew members are on breaks/lunches
- Performing routine inspections of temporary workplaces
Experience & Skills
- MUST have a valid TCP accreditation from the province you are working in.
- MUST be reliable and punctual.
- Effective communication skills with co-workers and clients.
- Willing to work outside in all weather conditions, sometimes working extended hours.
- Valid First Aid, CPR, and WHMIS would be an asset. (We do offer in-house training opportunities periodically as well|).
- Able to work as part of a team in a physically demanding environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- This position plays a vital role in maintaining a safe work environment while supporting ongoing construction activities. Applicants should be dependable, attentive to detail, and committed to safety protocols.
Training & Requirements:
- Must be reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
- Strong communication skills, and ability to follow instructions
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work near traffic and heavy equipment
- Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract is required for TWS role
- CSA approved steel-toed boots required
Pay: $17.25-$23.25 per hour
