Job Summary: The Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society (PICS) is seeking a dedicated Nursing Instructor for the FCR Loans Program to deliver hybrid NCLEX preparation and BCCNM registration guidance to internationally educated nurses (IENs). The role focuses on increasing exam participation, improving readiness, and accelerating progression into the Canadian healthcare workforce through professional mentorship and employer networking.
The FCR project is specifically designed to address employment barriers faced by skilled newcomer professionals, including internationally educated nurses (IENs), by offering career support and specialized resources to achieve the following objectives:
- Contribute to a fair, transparent, and timely BCCNM registration and foreign credential assessment process.
- Strengthen the capacity for internationally trained nursing professionals to meet Canadian licensing and workplace standards.
- Improve labour market integration outcomes for nurses within the British Columbia healthcare sector.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver a 4-week hybrid NCLEX preparation and specialized BCCNM (British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives) guidance to expedite regulatory licensing for IENs.
- Facilitate engaging workshops, lectures, study sessions, and exam preparation activities using adult learning principles.
- Teach Canadian nursing standards, professional practice expectations, healthcare system fundamentals, and Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) clinical judgment concepts.
- Develop, update, and deliver instructional materials, learning resources, practice assessments, and exam preparation tools.
- Assess participant learning needs and create individualized licensure and career action plans.
- Provide one-on-one coaching, mentorship, and guidance to support NCLEX success and professional integration into the Canadian healthcare workforce.
- Guide participants through BCCNM registration requirements, credential recognition pathways, and licensing processes.
- Monitor participant progress, attendance, and outcomes, providing timely feedback and recommendations for improvement.
- Prepare regular progress reports and communicate program outcomes, challenges, and recommendations to the Program coordinator.
- Contribute to program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, and continuous enhancement of training delivery and participant outcomes.
Job Skills and Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system, nursing pathways, and BCCNM registration requirements for IENs.
- Facilitating in-person and online training to help Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) prepare for the NCLEX exam and navigate the licensing process.
- Connecting nursing candidates with Health Authorities and hiring managers to facilitate direct networking and job placements.
- Providing individualized career guidance and performance feedback to help healthcare professionals achieve their goals.
- Manage training operations, including coordinating pre-assessment costs and overseeing all exam preparation resources.
- Connect and work effectively with program staff, diverse stakeholders, and community partners to ensure smooth program delivery.
Qualifications/Experience Requirement:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Current registration (or eligibility) with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in nursing instruction or NCLEX-RN exam coaching.
- Experience with Foreign Credential Recognition processes and financial needs assessments is a definite asset.
- Experience working with skilled newcomer professionals is a definite asset.
Additional Information
- Valid driver’s license and access to a suitable vehicle is an asset.
- Clean Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) is required.
