LIFT SUPERVISOR – YEAR ROUND
Reports to: Outside Operations Manager
Our Lift Hosts are the front line of guest interactions and experience at Hudson Bay Mountain
Resort with the greatest number of interactions with our guests during their visit and they can make the biggest difference between a satisfactory guest experience and an exceptional one; the smallest details can make the biggest impact.
As Lift Supervisor you are responsible for training, managing, guiding, and scheduling this team, who are essential to the operation of the resort and guest service. You will work closely with the Maintenance and Outside Operations team to ensure smooth operations and will also assist with maintenance work on the lifts, rolling fleet and buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing a high quality, friendly and cooperative relationship with the Lift Ops team, our guests, and all other mountain team
- Recruit, hire, train and maintain a team of highly motivated Lift Operators
- Weekly scheduling of Lift Operators; considering time off requests, busy periods and individual skill set/training
- Ensuring Lift Ops adherence to all operational and safety procedures, thus ensuring the safe operations of all lifts
- Ensuring the recording and reporting of guests in violation of the Alpine Responsibility Code is done properly, and dealing with disciplinary procedures
- Stepping in and covering shifts when required
- Ensuring time sheets are completed correctly daily and are sent in on a bi-weekly basis
- Dealing with employee reprimands, including reporting, and holding the employee accountable
- Communicating effectively and efficiently with 2-way radios, while adhering to HBMR protocols
- Communicating effectively by e-mail and social media groups to the Lift Ops team,
Management, and other departments.
- Checking the lift ops e-mail account regularly
- Being an administrator for an HBMR Team Facebook page
- Ensuring the thorough checking of tickets and passes is done
- Overseeing and assisting with shift operating procedures, including set up and take down
- Lift inspection for obvious maintenance needs, ramp upkeep, daily lift logs, recording and reporting information
- Ensuring neat, accurate, and complete Lift Log record keeping
- Full understanding of the Lift Operations Manual
- Full understanding of industry safety practices
- Full understanding of industry emergency and evacuation procedures
- Ensuring good communications with the Outdoor Operations Manager, Maintenance Team, and Base 1 dispatch
- Transporting team members to and from the mountain using an HBMR vehicle
- Transporting team members by snowmobile while on mountain, utilizing safe and proper snowmobile procedures in accordance with HBMR snowmobile training
- Assisting Maintenance with scheduled and unexpected lift work
- Assisting the Outside Operations Manager with scheduled and unexpected tasks
- Carrying out all duties with the highest level of professionalism
- All other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Able to ski or snowboard at an intermediate (or better) level
- Excellent guest service skills, always looking to improve the guest experience
- Attention to detail, safety
- Be a team player, having a cooperative and friendly attitude
- Strong communication skills, being able to relay information in a concise clear manner
- Good physical condition
- Mature, energetic, dependable
- Able to delegate and assist with crew functions
- Able to work in adverse conditions and weather
- Be neat, clean, and alert
Education and Experience, Certificates and Licenses
- High School diploma
- Previous ski resort experience required
- Previous lift experience in a supervisory role preferred
- Experience operating snowmobiles required
- Experience working at heights
- Experience working around machinery
- Completed Lift 150, 151 and 152 courses through Selkirk College required
- Valid class 5 drivers license with a clean drivers abstract
