Director -Project Design-
The Director -Project Design-is responsible for leading and overseeing the Project Design team, including Senior Project Coordinators, Project Design Supervisors, and the Engineering Design team at the Wood division. This role is accountable for managing the assignment, coordination, and delivery of detailed shop drawings and engineering design activities across both the Decoustics and Strongsville facilities.
Working closely with Supervisors and team leads, the Director ensures effective workload planning, resource allocation, and project scheduling to meet shop drawing deadlines and Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements. The role facilitates cross-functional collaboration by leading regular project status meetings with Project Management, Operations, and other key stakeholders to identify priorities, resolve critical issues, and maintain project schedules.
The Director plays a pivotal role in coordinating incoming project requirements from the Estimating team, ensuring resources are efficiently assigned to meet customer expectations while maximizing team productivity. A key focus of the position is fostering cross-training initiatives to enhance operational flexibility, strengthen team capabilities, and support the continued expansion of wood product manufacturing.
The role also oversees the engagement and management of external drafting and design consultants, including assigning work, reviewing deliverables, and managing associated invoicing and billing processes.
While the primary responsibility is strategic leadership, planning, and team development, the Manager may occasionally contribute directly to shop drawing preparation during periods of high workload or to support critical project timelines. The position also serves as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues, customer concerns, and supplier-related matters, providing effective conflict resolution and ensuring successful project execution.
Leveraging a strong architectural or engineering background, the Director possesses comprehensive knowledge of custom ceiling and wall systems, wood products, and the broader product portfolio. This expertise enables close collaboration with architects, designers, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to develop innovative and customized project solutions. The role also partners with Product Development teams to integrate new or specialized products into client projects whenever required.
The Director -Project Design is ultimately responsible for ensuring projects are delivered accurately, efficiently, and within established timelines while supporting the organization's operational objectives, customer satisfaction, and sales growth across both the Decoustics and Strongsville businesses.
Pay: $140,000.00-$180,000.00 per year
