Position Overview:
We are looking for a individual who’s passionate about aviation and eager to learn the trade. As an Aircraft Maintenance Apprentice, you will be part of our skilled maintenance team, learning to perform inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance on various types of aircrafts under the guidance of experienced and licensed mechanics.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Heavy Check:
· Review customer requests and requirements to ensure clarity before the start of the check.
· Collaborate with planners and supervisors to build milestones, define timelines, and assess the scope of work.
· Coordinate with Crew Chiefs to establish key contact points and ensure all stakeholders (production, stores, purchasing) are informed.
· Work with supervisors to define headcount and core crew for the project.
· Organize and facilitate pre-meetings with customers to discuss scope, expectations, and project goals.
During the Heavy Check:
· Lead daily morning and afternoon meetings to ensure effective communication regarding goals and progress.
· Create and manage snag lists, including part ordering and tracking.
· Monitor panel books and control sheets for accuracy and completeness.
· Assist with engineering requests, providing solutions as needed, and facilitate customer meetings.
- Oversee project scheduling, tracking task completion, and managing the overall project timeline.
- Coordinate with Crew Chiefs to ensure adequate tooling, parts, and manpower are available.
- Update Gantt charts and other tracking tools to reflect project progress and milestones.
Post-Heavy Check:
- Ensure all closed job cards are complete with no outstanding issues (e.g., parts, NDT reports, NT items).
- Perform quality control checks on the work environment (hangar, part storage, tooling).
- Update tally sheets after milestone completion and ensure proper documentation.
- Prepare log entries and monitor hours per job card to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee the RTS (Return to Service) process, ensuring proper disposition of consignment, Smart Stock, or return to customer.
- Lead post-project debrief meetings to identify lessons learned and areas for continuous improvement.
Technical Records:
- Processing all maintenance related paperwork as directed
- Review task cards monthly and verify the status
- Audit completed task cards for legibility, spelling and completeness.
- Ensure all required documentation is attached and complete.
- Closing of maintenance task cards and filing of audited and completed paperwork.
- Investigate discrepancies and coordinate with production to address the necessary corrections.
- Facilitate the delivery of aircraft records to customers.
- Ensure completed work packages and other files are maintained and organized appropriately.
- Collection and verification of aircraft journey log pages.
- Data entry of aircraft flight time and cycles as well as maintenance actions.
- Verifying, scanning/uploading and filing job cards.
- Producing reports as required.
- Liaise and coordinate with various departments.
Additional Duties:
- Provide leadership and guidance to project team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Interface with internal departments (Stores, Purchasing, etc.) to ensure smooth execution of the project.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practices within the team.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance, with a focus on heavy maintenance checks; experience in a project management role is highly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of aircraft maintenance regulations, industry standards, and safety protocols.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and navigate changing project needs.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Gantt charts, etc.).
- Deep understanding of aircraft systems, components, and heavy maintenance processes.
