Under the direction of the Manager and Chef/Lead Cook, this person is responsible for food service in the seniors’ Centre dining room, setting and clearing, minor food assembly, dishwashing and cleaning. They would maintain clean and sanitary work areas, equipment and tools in a professional manner. Service is for resident’s lunch and dinner including special guests and at times, for special events.
All Seniors' Centre staff are required to have First Aid and respond to any resident emergencies. In addition, they must have a clean criminal record check and current Foodsafe. This dependable, personable, professionally attired person will have a love for seniors and will strive to always be providing the best service they can to the clients in our care.
Duties
- Greet residents warmly and provide attentive, friendly service throughout their dining experience
- Take accurate food and beverage orders
- Serve food and drinks promptly, ensuring presentation standards are met
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dining areas in compliance with food safety standards
- Assist in food preparation or kitchen tasks as needed to support team operations
- Manage time effectively to serve multiple tables efficiently during busy periods
- Ensure residents needs are met promptly, addressing any concerns or special requests with professionalism
Qualifications
- One year serving experience in high volume facilities, not including convenience or fast food.
- Criminal Record Check clearance.
- Current First Aid (updated every 3 years)
- Current Food Safe Certificate (updated every 5 years)

A suitable candidate will:
- Contribute to providing a safe and stable environment for all residents.
- Maintaining excellent Foodsafe standards in all handling and service of meals, dishware and while cleaning.
- Respond calmly and professionally to any resident or building emergency or crisis according to established policies and guidelines.
- Report any unusual or serious incidents.
- Provide services and care sensitive to individuals’ ethnic, spiritual and life-experiences.
- Have a proven ability to be reliable and punctual and will follow appearance guidelines.
- Be a positive, upbeat personality and offer pleasant, polite and professional service at all times with residents and staff.
