Education & Designation:
- University degree in law from a recognized university in Canada.
- Member in good standing of the Bar of one of the provinces or territories of Canada.
Experience:
- A minimum of 7–10 years of experience in the practice of law, with demonstrated expertise in a few of the following areas: public procurement, commercial law, labour law, regulatory/compliance law and contract drafting.
Additional Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of corporate/commercial law, contract law, regulatory compliance, and the legal principles applicable to the Mint’s business and operational activities, with experience in public procurement law and related trade agreements considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to draft, review, negotiate and advise on contracts, agreements, procurement documents, policies, legal opinions, briefing notes and other legal instruments.
- Working knowledge of labour and employment, intellectual property, privacy, AML/ATF, legislative, policy and other legal advisory matters relevant to Legal Services.
- Strong analytical, research, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to identify legal issues, assess risks and provide practical, business-oriented advice and mitigation strategies.
Ability to synthesize legal, policy, business and operational information and provide clear oral and written advice that balances legal requirements, client objectives, organizational interests and risk management considerations.

Ability to manage client relationships, competing priorities and workload to ensure timely, effective and high-quality delivery of legal services

Ability to collaborate with, guide and coordinate the work of less experienced counsel, Legal Researcher & Technician, articling students and legal support staff, as required.

- Experience advising a Crown corporation, government entity or regulated organization is considered an asset.
