Fraser Heath is seeking to fill a Medical Lead position which provides support to regional leadership in maintaining high standards in Fraser Health’s community based programs within the division of Child, Youth and Young Adult, in both current programs and in the development and implementation of new community based programs.
Currently, Community Based Programs consist of the following:

Short-Term Assessment, Response and Treatment (START)

Youth Concurrent Disorders (YCD)

Integrated Child and Youth Teams (ICY)

Emergency Response Teams (ERT)

Child and Youth Transition Teams
-
Adolescent Day Treatment Programs (ADTP)

Outpatient Psychiatry (Neuropsychiatry and Infant Psychiatry)

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Regional Division Head – Child, Youth and Young Adult, the responsibilities of the Medical Lead, Community Based Programs will include, but are not limited to:
-
Physician leadership and decision making as part of all community based services and outpatient clinics (excluding EPI), including START, Youth Concurrent Disorders, and any new community based services

Quality initiatives in the community

Governance, physician oversight, partnership with managers with shared leadership roles
-
Quality Assurance of all Community based services (excluding EPI)
-
Case based discussions for complex client concerns
-
Cross-boundary partnerships with allied services (eg. MCFD), crossover leadership with Foundry groups
-
Ensure the requirements of programs operating within the department are coordinated
-
Maintain regular communication with operational leaders, other physician leads and staff physicians within the department
-
Attend the MHSU regional meetings
-
Monitor and optimize key Mental Health and Psychiatry performance indicators
-
Oversee a program of quality monitoring and improvement
-
Ensure continuous adequate medical staffing in community programs (as applicable)
-
Promote health and wellness amongst Members
-
Investigate complaints regarding care provided by Members within the Department at the Facility under the direction of the appropriate Regional Department Head(s)

Encourage a healthy, respectful workplace

Contribute to the search and selection of applicants for vacancies in the Regional Department
Qualifications
The successful candidate must:
-
Have current licensure with CPSBC and current CMPA coverage
-
Have RCPSC certification in Psychiatry
-
Subspecialty certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
-
Be an active medical staff member of the Fraser Health Authority Mental Health and Psychiatry Program
Term: Two years, renewable by the Program Medical Director/Regional Department Head
