Wanted: Part-time Custodian / Property Caretaker on North Shore
Position Overview
Our church, located in the Upper Lonsdale area, is seeking a part-time Custodian / Property Caretaker. This position would be ideal for individuals looking for additional income, as well as retired or semi-retired individuals.
Purpose and Requirements
The Church Custodian / Property Caretaker provides general custodial services and coordinates facilities, including opening and closing duties, as required. This position is critical to the success of many church programs through the performance of duties and communication with Church personnel.
· This position requires frequent evening and/or weekend hours, with approximately 20 hours per week required.
· Some duties may be performed outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions and may require frequent lifting and moving of heavy objects.
· North Shore residents with a car or access to a bus will be preferred due to the nature of the part-time work.
· Agree to criminal background and reference checks.
Competencies and Skillsets – What you’ll bring
Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficient in English
Ability to coordinate and execute duties as required
Ability to execute physical activities including lifting and operating equipment
Strong attention to detail
Experienced in coordinating multi-faceted activities, contractors and suppliers
Experience in maintenance or contract projects or similar activities is preferred.
Core Duties and Responsibilities – What you’ll do
This outline of the Custodian / Property Caretaker position describes the core duties, but other similar duties may be assigned from time to time as the requirements of the Church evolve. The Church also rents its facilities to various recurring groups and conducts other rental and congregational events.
· Set-up and tear-down for various events, including unlocking and locking the Church as required, and setting up, taking down, and storing tables and chairs for those events.
· Basic routine maintenance and coordination with contractors for improvement projects.
· Inspection and maintenance of the building and grounds to keep the premises safe and tidy.
· Open and close the Church for events according to a schedule supplied by the Premises Coordinator, as it may change from time to time.
· Other general janitorial tasks and other general tasks and duties as requested by the Church.
