Position Overview
QRC Logistics is seeking an experienced Picking Team Lead to join our growing 3PL warehouse operation in Halton Hills.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of Order Pickers and temporary flex staff within a high-volume distribution environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring customer orders are picked accurately, efficiently, and on time while maintaining operational KPIs, inventory integrity, and safety standards.
This position is ideal for an individual who enjoys leading by example, coaching employees, driving performance, and supporting a fast-paced operation.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Employee Development
- Lead, coach, and motivate a team of warehouse associates and temporary staff.
- Assign daily workloads and monitor team performance throughout the shift.
- Conduct start-of-shift meetings and communicate operational priorities.
- Provide ongoing coaching, training, and performance feedback.
- Support onboarding and training of new employees.
- Monitor attendance and communicate staffing concerns to management.
- Act as the first point of escalation for operational and employee-related issues.
Operational Leadership
- Ensure customer orders are picked accurately, completely, and within required service levels.
- Monitor productivity, quality, and operational performance throughout the shift.
- Support achievement of departmental KPIs including productivity, accuracy, and on-time fulfillment.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, operational procedures, and warehouse standards.
Inventory & Quality Control
- Support inventory accuracy by ensuring proper picking, scanning, and transaction processing.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, mis-picks, shortages, and damages.
- Work closely with Inventory Control and Operations teams to resolve inventory-related issues.
- Ensure accurate documentation of operational adjustments and corrections.
Safety & Equipment Oversight
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture throughout the operation.
- Ensure employees follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor proper use of warehouse equipment, RF scanners, and material handling equipment.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Report equipment concerns and coordinate repairs when required.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor operational metrics and productivity trends.
- Assist with reporting related to accuracy, productivity, staffing, and service levels.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives focused on efficiency and quality.
- Provide recommendations to improve workflow, staffing utilization, and operational performance.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of warehouse or distribution experience.
- Previous leadership experience in a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or distribution environment.
- Experience working within a 3PL environment is considered a strong asset.
- Strong knowledge of RF scanning, warehouse operations, and inventory control processes.
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team-building abilities.
- Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and warehouse management systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when required.
- Comfortable working in an active warehouse environment.
