Sinai Health is looking for an experienced Project Manager to support our Capital and Planning Strategy Team within our Capital Development Department based at our Mount Sinai Hospital Campus. This is a rare opportunity to help shape the future of the physical space(s) at Sinai Health that will support the next generation of patient-centred care.
Capital and Planning Strategy is devoted to the strategic long-term planning of space, projects and people. To be successful in this role, you will possess considerable knowledge and experience in project planning and management, business development, health system planning, capital strategy and planning, stakeholder engagement or client service experience, preferably within a healthcare environment. As a key member of the Capital and Planning Strategy Team, the Project Manager will support the processes needed to formulate large capital and strategic initiatives for Sinai Health. The Project Manager will work closely with key clinical leaders as well as an external consultant team to complete deliverables that will adhere to the MOHLTC Capital Planning Manual.
Reporting to the Director, Capital Planning and Strategy, the Project Manager is accountable for planning, managing, organizing, monitoring and orchestrating large strategic capital projects across all sites of the Mount Sinai Campus, as assigned by the Director. The Project Manager will be a key team member of the Sinai Health Facilities and Capital Development department primarily leading the planning for Sinai Health’s next major capital projects which will involve reimagining Sinai Health’s program and services and in the future development of the Sinai Health campuses. The Project Manager ensures that all planning and projects comply, as may be required, with the Planning Parameters of the Master Plan, space management policies and directives, directions outlined in the MOHLTC Capital Planning Manual and their joint framework for early capital planning with the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network, as well as any relevant planning guidelines, practices and standards published by other broader health care Sector partners such as Cancer Care Ontario, etc.
In this role you will:
- Manage, organize, monitor and orchestrate multiple project work streams which may include work related to visioning, model of care, development approvals, etc., some of which may occur concurrently
- Utilize project management and change management skills in working with stakeholders to achieve deliverables, timelines and milestones
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with clinical and non-clinical programs and services, departments, integrated inter-professional teams and working groups, front-line staff and physicians
- Blend clinical/healthcare knowledge with facilitation expertise to engage, facilitate and support planning and engagement sessions with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders
- Utilize health care expertise to liaise with stakeholders and identify needs to advance the organization’s physical space, focusing on patient-centred care, patient safety, best practices, and infection prevention and control standards
- Utilize health care expertise to analyze projects, processes and initiatives to create efficiencies and streamline work processes. Following analysis, identify potential solutions and lead change to ensure an efficient and effective result
- Identify and bring forward issues or risks, and work with the team to develop creative evidence-informed options for mitigation
- Work collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders to ensure timelines and deliverables are met and are in alignment with Sinai Health’s mission, vision and values and strategic directions, as well as the approved project planning plans, and Sinai Health’s policies and practices including those related to space management
- Meet with patients, advisors, community members, and staff to evaluate the program and service needs, investigate future healthcare trends, and make high-level recommendations on approaches to incorporate their needs or challenges
- Along with the Director, develop RFPs (e.g. services from programmers, visionaries, architects and engineers, and space management expertise), evaluate RFPs and ensure compliance with Sinai Health’s Policies and Procedures
- Manage the consulting team and verify work performed by the lead and other specialty consultants is complete according to agreements and work plan commitments
- Ensure that all consultants have the appropriate documentation, and access to materials including coordinating approvals and plans to undertake the work, identifying and addressing user and knowledge gaps, when necessary, and making proposals to reduce risk related to planning gaps
- Verify completion of the planning activities, create and report results to various levels of management including the Director, Senior Director, the Vice-President of Facilities and Capital Development, Steering Committee, and other oversight committees as required
- Utilize expert-level negotiation skills and conflict resolution strategies to work with external and internal stakeholders, obtaining buy-in and support to ensure the success of planning work, and achievement of realistic real-time and long-term strategies for all
- Ability to develop, interpret and lead project scheduling work, implement and continuously monitor scheduled activities and manage schedule risk mitigation
- Facilitate and lead the creation of early planning project budgets to enable project cost approvals, and executive decisions related to capital investments, projects and program and service growth requests as it relates to space
- Monitor approved budget spend, commitments, forecast and cost-to-date for projects during the planning phases, and transition projects beyond planning to project managers responsible for the implementation
