Hotel Shediac is seeking a friendly, organized, and professional Receptionist / Event Coordinator to join our team. This dual-role position combines exceptional front desk customer service with the planning and coordination of hotel events and special functions. The ideal candidate is bilingual (French and English), highly organized, enjoys working with people, and thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.
Key ResponsibilitiesReception Duties
- Greet guests with a warm and professional attitude.
- Check guests in and out efficiently while providing exceptional customer service.
- Answer telephone calls, emails, and guest inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Manage reservations, room availability, and guest requests using the hotel's reservation system.
- Process guest payments and maintain accurate records.
- Provide information about hotel amenities, local attractions, and services.
- Assist with administrative tasks, filing, and daily front desk operations.
- Resolve guest concerns and ensure a positive guest experience.
Event Coordination Duties
- Coordinate, organize, and oversee hotel events, meetings, weddings, and special functions.
- Meet with clients to discuss event details and ensure their vision is successfully executed.
- Prepare event spaces, including room layouts, décor, signage, and event materials.
- Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, entertainers, and internal departments.
- Develop event timelines and ensure smooth execution before, during, and after each event.
- Assist with hosting events and provide support throughout the event as needed.
- Help promote hotel events and special packages through guest engagement and marketing initiatives.
- Ensure event spaces remain clean, organized, and presentation-ready.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues professionally while maintaining a high level of guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in hospitality, front desk, customer service, event coordination, or a related field.
- Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written) is required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Professional, friendly, and customer-focused attitude.
- Experience with hotel reservation systems is considered an asset.
- Bartending or banquet experience is an asset but not required.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift and move event materials during event setup and teardown when required.
