Optometric Assistant – Emerald Optometry
Emerald Optometry is seeking a warm, motivated, and patient-centered Optometric Assistant to join our growing team. Responsibilities
- Administer pre-testing and help patients complete intake forms
- Support the optometrist during examinations and clinical procedures
- Prepare and maintain clean and organized treatment areas
- Assist patients in the optical dispensary with eyewear selection and process glasses and contact lens orders
- Support the optician with eyewear measurements, including pupillary distance (PD) and frame fitting assessments
- Verify and prepare spectacle and contact lens orders for accuracy
- Provide patient education on treatments and therapies
- Educate patients on eyewear options, lens features, coatings, and care instructions
- Coordinate with optical laboratories and suppliers regarding orders, remakes, and product inquiries
- Maintain optical inventory, restock frames and contact lenses, and monitor supply levels
- Handle payment collection and patient checkout
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow throughout the day
- Explain procedures clearly and answer patient questions
- Liaise with other healthcare providers as needed
- Process insurance claims and verify patient information
- Support general clinic administration including scheduling, recalls, referrals, and billing
- Assist with operational tasks such as fax and document management, inventory tracking, and order processing
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in optometry, ophthalmology, or a related allied health field
- Experience with diagnostic testing or direct patient care
- Familiarity with eyewear dispensing and optical measurements
Schedule
- Part-time: 10–20 hours per week, across 1–3 clinic days
- Additional hours available as our specialty services continue to expand
