Shepherd's Home Hardware is a family business with a large reach into the Okanagan and beyond. We have a dozen delivery trucks that are constantly on the move. We serve large contractors and single home owners by delivering the lumber product they need to build a housing development or a back yard deck. We are currently seeking a career focused Class 1 driver with tandem flat deck and attached crane. Our drivers are well cared for and they often do overtime to ensure that the product is delivered safely. on time.
The delivery driver associate is responsible for delivering products and/or supplies to customers, vendors, jobsites, or other corporate locations. Duties include operating freight handling equipment, maintenance and operation of company vehicles, verification of administrative paperwork, and working with the public at large. The delivery person must safely perform all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to avoid adverse impact on the level of customer service.
General Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the speedy and safe fulfilment of the following:
- Safe loading, unloading and delivery of Shepherds products with a customer satisfaction attitude.
- Checking and confirming order loads, details, and location for delivery of products
- Communicating with customers, other drivers and dispatch about deliveries
- Delivering product to customers using a company vehicle to designated locations
Qualifications:
- Experienced Class 1 professional drivers who take their safety, equipment, and compliance seriously and demonstrate a positive “can do” attitude.
- A documented clean Commercial Driver’s abstract with no suspensions.
- Driving and road knowledge of local area in the North Okanagan is essential.
- Knowledge of safe driving practices and traffic laws.
- Drivers who want to maximize their hours, but still make it home to their families at the end of every day.
- Previous experience as a truck driver or in a similar role preferred.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment, such as forklifts, is a plus
- Must be able to pass pre-employment Drug & Alcohol Testing if required.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
