The City of Abbotsford is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our Water Supply team as a full-time Utility Person (Supply). This is a hands-on, semi-skilled role focused on the operation and maintenance of the City’s water supply infrastructure. Working under the direction of a Water Supply Works Supervisor or Operator II, you will help ensure the safe and efficient delivery of clean water to our community.
In this role, you will perform maintenance on water treatment equipment such as chlorination systems, UV disinfection units, and chemical feed pumps. You will also inspect watersheds, reservoirs, and intake structures, maintain pressure-reducing and booster stations, and conduct water quality sampling and analysis. Your ability to maintain accurate records, follow safety protocols, and work in various environmental conditions will be key to your success.
We are looking for a team player with a solid understanding of water treatment principles, safety practices, and mechanical systems. If you are physically capable, technically skilled, and eager to contribute to the health and safety of our growing city, we encourage you to apply.
In order to be considered for this position, you must have:
- Completion of Grade 12 or the equivalent
- 45 Certified Education Units (CEUs) in water quality and treatment (EOCP recognized)
- Minimum of one years’ experience in water supply operations
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- WorkSafeBC Occupational First Aid certificate
- EOCP Water Treatment Level 1 certification
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $31.01 to $36.49.
