Before & After School Care Educator (Part-Time)
Okanagan Montessori School & Child Care is looking for a caring, reliable, and energetic educator to join our licensed Before & After School Care program.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with school-aged children in a positive, supportive, and play-based environment.
Schedule
- Afternoon Shift: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
- Optional Morning Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 9:00 AM
- Additional hours may be available for Pro-D Days, school breaks, and summer programs.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and supervision of all children at all times.
- Follow all BC Child Care Licensing Regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Plan and lead engaging indoor and outdoor activities appropriate for school-aged children.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment where children feel safe and supported.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow staff members.
- Assist children with daily routines, transitions, and conflict resolution using positive guidance techniques.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure safe arrival and departure procedures.
- Prepare and organize activities, games, crafts, and materials.
- Keep the classroom and outdoor play areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Administer basic first aid when required and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's day.
- Work collaboratively with the school and childcare team.
- Complete daily cleaning duties and maintain licensing standards.
Qualifications
- Applicants with a valid Responsible Adult Certificate or relevant experience working with school-aged children are encouraged to apply.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Valid Criminal Record Check.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, organized, and able to work independently.
- Two Reference Letters
- Montessori experience or an interest in Montessori education is considered an asset.
