Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced 5 tonne Class G Truck driver for our client in Peterborough. This is an excellent opportunity to join a great company. This is a full time or part time opportunity which offers 15-20 hours per week. This position is very physical in nature. You must be available for early morning start time of 5.30 am. You will be responsible for loading and unloading the truck. You must have previous driving experience for us to consider you for this position.
Duties
- Operate pallet jacks and other machinery to move freight efficiently within the facility.
- Load and unload equipment; secure loaded equipment per company procedure and inspect in transit if necessary
- Deliver and pick up products in Port Hope
- Ensure documentation and customer signatures
- Double check delivered items to ensure customers receive exactly what they ordered
- Perform vehicle inspections daily as well as checking gas, oil and other fluid levels
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate logistics and streamline operations.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues regarding job progress and any issues that arise.
- Assist in loading and unloading shipments, ensuring accurate inventory management.
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Valid Class G driver's license with a clean driver's abstract. We do require you to provide a copy of your updated driver's abstract upon request
- Able to start at 5.30 am and travel to Port Hope
- You may be required to make more than one run per day
- Familiar with local roads
- Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to converse with customers and colleagues
