What You Offer:
Ideally, you have extensive experience working with children, youth and young adults or vulnerable individuals in a health care setting, school, or home setting. You have experience and are confident in supporting individuals who may exhibit behaviours that limit their ability to access or participate in community. You have experience and are confident in providing personal care and medical care needs. The Position:
This is a permanent, full-time position based out of our Orange Hub Respite Centre (#400, 10045 156 St NW, Edmonton, AB, T5P 2P7) and will report to the Program Supervisor. The candidate must be able to travel to the participant’s home in the Carter Crest neighbourhood (SW), accompany the participant on the Dedicated Accessible Transit Service (DATS) to Orange Hub, and return with the participant to their home at the end of the day. The candidate should be flexible and comfortable working both at the participant’s home and at the centre, depending on program needs.
Commencing: July 15, 2026
Scheduled shift: Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m.
As a Community Specialist II (CS II) you would be an ally and ambassador, you will work front-line and are pivotal to the creation of a safe, caring and community-enriched life for the individuals/families who hire us. Thoughtful program planning and implementation supports participants to connect with their communities - establishing real relationships and creating meaningful days and lives. The conscientious CS II will act with integrity, be open to growth, live our purpose, cultivate teamwork, and put forth an extraordinary effort to empower people with disabilities and their families to grow, succeed, and belong.

Provide specialized direct care and purposeful support in an engaging, fun, and safe environment

Facilitate inclusion for individuals with complex and/or specialized situations

Ensure programs and services are engaging and meaningful and promotes growth, success, and belonging, while creating meaningful days for participants

Assist, support, and encourage individuals to advocate on their own behalf and achieve their personal goals through various development activities

Maintain timely, accurate and professional documents in accordance with AdaptAbilities policies and procedures

Understand and comply with all emergency processes and risk management

Perform other job-related activities as required
Qualifications:
-
Minimum education requirement of a High School Diploma with a minimum of 2-3 years of related experience; OR graduation from an appropriate post-secondary program with a Certificate or Diploma. Programs include Disability Studies, Human Services, Social Work, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, Psychology, Sociology, or Education.

Hands-on experience working with individuals with complex behaviors which limit their inclusion in community and/or programs

Alignment with AdaptAbilities core purpose and core values

Medication Administration Certification is required upon hire

Clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check are required upon hire

Intermediate First Aid Certification CPR Level C and AED is required upon hire

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol are an asset
Compensation: $22.31 to $23.44/ hour depending on experience and education
