About Us
Manor Park Community Council (MPCC) is a not-for-profit organization serving the Manor Park community through year-round recreational programming, licensed childcare, community events, and outdoor rink operations. MPCC works in close partnership with the City of Ottawa and delivers programs at the Manor Park Community Centre, Manor Park Public School, and surrounding outdoor spaces.
Our programs include After Three in Manor Park (A3), summer day camps, adult fitness and arts programming, and a range of specialty workshops for children, youth, and adults.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an Experience & Engagement Creator to lead the planning and execution of our marketing, communications, and community engagement efforts. In this role, you will shape how MPCC connects with residents by delivering clear, engaging, and consistent messaging across platforms while creating memorable events that bring the community together.
Reporting to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of marketing and event delivery, from planning through execution and evaluation. You will collaborate closely with program staff, support volunteers and vendors, and play a hands-on role in delivering high-quality community experiences.
This role is ideal for a creative and organized professional who is comfortable balancing strategic planning with day-to-day execution and on-site event coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing and Communications
- Develop and execute marketing plans aligned with programs and organizational priorities
- Maintain a coordinated calendar of marketing activities and campaigns
- Create and publish content across digital, print, and on-site channels
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure accurate and engaging messaging
- Ensure consistency with brand standards across all communications
- Manage and update the website and communication platforms
- Track performance metrics and report on engagement outcomes
Community Events and Engagement
- Plan and deliver community events from concept through execution
- Maintain an annual event calendar and enhance existing events
- Develop and manage event budgets and vendor relationships
- Secure required permits and licenses
- Recruit, coordinate, and support volunteers
- Oversee event logistics, supplies, and on-site execution
- Lead post-event communications and recognition efforts
Staff and Volunteer Coordination
- Coordinate support staff involved in events and programming
- Lead volunteer recruitment, scheduling, and orientation
- Support a collaborative and organized event delivery environment
Operations and Administration
- Develop and manage marketing and event budgets
- Track financial performance and reconcile expenses
- Maintain records and supporting documentation
- Identify operational issues and recommend improvements
Key Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Marketing, Event Management, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience considered
- 2+ years of experience in a combination of marketing, communications and event planning
- Experience managing or adhering to a marketing budget
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience with social media and digital marketing tools
- Proficiency with tools such as Canva, WordPress, and Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving ability
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
- Experience in community-based environments, recreation, or live events is an asset
- Valid driver’s license
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to acquire it)
- Eligible for a clear Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check
- French language skills are an asset
- Smart Serve certification is an asset
