Carena Operator
Location: Viking Carena Complex
Reports To: Carena Facility Manager
Position Type: Shift Work (Days/Evenings/Weekends)
Position Summary
The Viking Carena Complex is seeking a reliable and motivated Carena Operator to join our team. Under the direction of the Lead Operator, the Arena Operator is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation, cleanliness, and safety of the facility while on duty. This role requires a strong work ethic, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate independently with a high degree of initiative.
- Work flexible shifts including days, evenings, and weekends.
- Operate the Zamboni to flood and maintain ice surfaces.
- Perform janitorial duties such as:
- Operating floor scrubbers
- Cleaning showers, bathrooms, dressing rooms, plant room, lobby, spectator bleachers, walking track, and outdoor parking areas
- Ensure meeting rooms and other rental spaces are clean before and after events.
- Perform ice maintenance tasks as directed by the Lead Operator.
- Follow all safety protocols and use proper PPE at all times.
- Maintain facility safety and security.
- Assist with special event setup and takedown, including tables, chairs, and equipment.
- Provide exceptional customer service and ensure users follow facility rules and regulations.
- Perform skate sharpening.
- Complete all required paperwork such as daily timesheets.
- Assist kitchen staff during peak times when duties allow.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Operator.
Qualifications
- WHMIS Certification
- Class 5 Driver’s License
- Basic computer skills (computer literacy)
Pay: $15.00-$17.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
