The Kitchen Porter plays a key role in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation. The role involves washing dishes, cleaning kitchen equipment, ensuring waste is managed correctly, and assisting the kitchen team where required.
Kitchen Porters help ensure that the kitchen remains safe, efficient, and fully stocked so that the team can deliver great food and service to our guests.
Key ResponsibilitiesCleaning & Dishwashing
- Wash dishes, utensils, trays, pots, and pans using the dishwasher or by hand.
- Ensure a constant supply of clean plates, cutlery, and kitchen equipment during service.
- Maintain the cleanliness of sinks, dishwashing areas, and surrounding workstations.
- Empty and clean dishwashers regularly.
Kitchen Cleanliness
- Keep all kitchen areas clean and tidy throughout the shift.
- Sweep and mop floors regularly to maintain hygiene and safety standards.
- Clean kitchen surfaces, walls, and equipment as required.
- Support with deep cleaning tasks in line with cleaning schedules.
Waste & Recycling
- Empty bins regularly and ensure waste is disposed of correctly.
- Separate recycling and general waste in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness in bin areas and external waste areas.
Supporting the Kitchen Team
- Assist kitchen staff with basic tasks when required.
- Help with deliveries by checking, unpacking, and storing stock correctly.
- Ensure storage areas are kept organised and tidy.
- Refill cleaning chemicals, paper towels, and sanitising stations as required.
Health & Safety
- Follow all food safety and hygiene procedures.
- Ensure safe handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Report any hazards, spills, or equipment issues immediately.
- Follow all company health and safety policies at all times.
Standards & Expectations
- Maintain a positive attitude and work well as part of a team.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and managers.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
