Reporting to the Lead, Medical Affairs, the Senior Consultant provides advice and subject matter expertise on issues impacting medical leaders and medical staff and supports the integration of medical affairs strategies that align with organizational and provincial healthcare priorities. The Senior Consultant leads complex projects and change initiatives by conducting comprehensive research, current-state assessments, environmental scans, jurisdictional reviews, and best-practice benchmarking to develop recommendations and actionable plans that address complex challenges and opportunities related to Medical Affairs priorities. The Senior Consultant partners with medical staff, medical leaders, operational leaders, and external stakeholders to build alignment, foster engagement, and support successful implementation of strategic initiatives. This role is responsible for facilitating consultations, leading stakeholder engagement activities, developing business cases and strategic recommendations, and guiding initiatives through planning, implementation, and evaluation. Leveraging strong project management and change management expertise, the Senior Consultant balances competing priorities and identifies innovative solutions to complex organizational issues. Through collaboration, influence, and relationship-building, this role drives meaningful outcomes that strengthen the medical staff environment. As a core member of a high-performing, purpose-driven team, the Senior Consultant contributes to the advancement of Medical Affairs strategies and initiatives that enable medical staff and medical leaders to provide exceptional care to Albertans. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, business administration, or related healthcare field. Minimum five (5) years of related experience, preferably in a healthcare environment working with medical staff and developing physician related strategies.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated project management experience, policy development, change management, and risk management, including the ability to lead complex initiatives from planning through implementation and evaluation while managing multiple priorities and stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including using data to inform decision-making and develop evidence-informed recommendations. Exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues, risks, options, and recommendations clearly and concisely to diverse audiences. Proven ability to think strategically by assessing current and future needs, evaluating alternatives, identifying risks and opportunities, and developing plans that support long-term organizational goals. Ability to navigate ambiguity, build alignment, and develop innovative solutions to complex and multifaceted challenges. Strong relationship-building, consultation, and influencing skills, with a demonstrated ability to foster partnerships and collaboration across diverse stakeholder groups. Knowledge of Alberta's healthcare system and Medical Affairs practices. Experience conducting environmental scans, jurisdictional reviews, and best-practice benchmarking to support strategic planning, policy development, and organizational decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in in healthcare management, business administration, or related healthcare field. Certification or formal training in project management and/or change management. Experience in leading health system transformation initiatives. Experience leading provincial, multi-stakeholder, or enterprise-wide strategic initiatives within a healthcare environment is preferred.
