We are a locally owned Grande Prairie company that provides crane and hoist inspections, operator training, load tests and preventative maintenance and repairs throughout the Peace Region.
Position Summary:
True North Overhead Crane Services Ltd. is looking for an Overhead Crane Service Technician/ electrical apprentice to join our Grande Prairie location. As a Crane Technician, you will be responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, and inspecting overhead cranes and hoists.

We are looking for a self-motivated tradesperson with strong technical skills and must have computer data entry skills. The successful candidate must be reliable, efficient and organized with good communication skills. The individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while staying safety focused at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assisting in performing preventative and corrective maintenance on overhead cranes and equipment.
· Assisting in the installation of overhead crane components and corresponding equipment
· Assist in conducting full inspections of overhead crane systems, electric hoists, and manual hoists at customer’s facilities
· Complete inspection reports and sales orders in a professional, accurate and legible manner utilizing the established company digital tools required for each service, obtaining the customer’s signature and acceptance, (training available for this)
· Assist in troubleshooting equipment to diagnose deficiencies and determine repairs required
· Assist in repairing and replacing defective parts
· Cleaning, lubricating, adjusting and performing other maintenance work on lifting equipment
· Follow all established safety rules and procedures, including those established by the customer
· Maintain all company-issued equipment, vehicle, and assets in a safe and proper working order
Educational Requirements:
Preference will be given to those who are mechanically inclined or have overhead crane service and/or inspection experience.
Indentured apprentice electrician would be preferable, however not necessary.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Experience & Qualifications:
Must be comfortable working at heights
Training will be provided for all overhead crane work.
Ability to work varied hours and some overtime.
Must have valid driver’s licence and a driver’s abstract, evidencing a clean driving record and non-graduated drivers’ licence
Training/ safety tickets Required:
CSO, Fall Arrest, AWP, First Aid and H2S training.

· Ability to assist in problem solving, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical and mechanical issues
· Reliable, organized, and attentive to details when working on and servicing overhead cranes, hoists.
· Consult with customer regarding all repair and safety-related issues and discuss recommendations that will assist the customer with improving their material handling applications, prior to leaving a job site
· Ability to function as part of a team and to request and accept direction as required
· Willingly participates in our safety program
· Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs
