Asphalt Plant Operator
Responsibilities
- Operate the asphalt plant's control systems to regulate the flow of materials, temperatures, and mixing times to produce the correct asphalt mix.
- Continually monitor gauges, screens, and control panels to ensure the plant is operating safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate with Quality Control staff to make necessary adjustments to the asphalt mix based on test results.
- Identify and resolve issues that occur during production, such as equipment malfunctions or material flow issues.
- Maintain an accurate record of production tonnage, mixes, and downtime and maintenance performed.
Loader Operator
Responsibilities
- Operate a front-end loader to feed various aggregate materials and recycled asphalt products from stockpiles to the asphalt plant feed bins.
- Constantly monitor and feed the asphalt plant to ensure continuous and efficient production flow.
- Organize and maintain the plant stockpiles to prevent contamination, control moisture, and ensure consistency of materials supplied (segregation control).
- Maintain the work area; moving material to create and organize stockpiles, clean up debris, and maintain roadways and berms.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks; fueling, lubricating, and cleaning the equipment, identify and report more significant mechanical issues to the Foreman.
- Maintain a log of equipment use, maintenance activities, and any issues or malfunctions to ensure proper record-keeping and a clear maintenance schedule.
Groundperson/Labourer
Responsibilities
- Entry-level position that involves the physical work at asphalt plants, shoveling, sweeping, and cleaning material around the plant and on belts as required
- Perform physically demanding tasks in all types of weather
- Lifting & moving heavy objects, assisting with general maintenance, lubrication, and minor repairs on plant equipment
- Supports the plant operator and other crew members with tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of asphalt plant operations and production processes
- Basic mechanical aptitude and welding knowledge
- Ability to recognize plant limitations and assist with troubleshooting
- Willingness to work shift work, weekends, overtime, and extended hours as required
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to travel and work away from home when required
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Valid driver’s license
