Job Summary
Join us at our family owned and operated Placer Gold Mine outside of Dawson City, Yukon until October of 2026 as a Camp Cook. This is a seasonal position hiring multiple candidates. The ideal candidate is skilled in prep and cooking with a positive and welcoming attitude, as the kitchen is the heart of a camp.
Responsibilities:
-Menu planning and grocery ordering
-Prepare home-style meals (breakfast/dinner/desserts) for a crew of 30-80 trades workers
-Bake individual treats for cold lunches
-Prepare a variety of sandwiches for cold lunches
- Cleaning the dining hall and cooking/prep areas
-Maintain organization and inventory of the groceries
-Collaborate with other kitchen staff to complete assigned duties
-Occasional cleaning of other camp areas may be expected
Qualifications:
-Food Safe or other food handling course
-Experience cooking in a camp or similar industrial kitchen setting
-Knowledge of sanitary practices
-Passion and positive attitude towards the kitchen
-Class 5 license is a bonus however not required
Camps are located on remote active mine sites. This is a camp position with a 12 day on, 2 days off shift. We offer relocation assistance to get to the Yukon however this is NOT fly in fly out work, nor is end of season travel covered. Camp accommodations include a private room, shared wash facilities and a dining hall providing 3 meals a day.
Wages $25/hour with overtime after 8hrs.
10hrs/day, 70hrs/week.
