Reporting to the Director, Integrated Operations, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing operational functions within our operations centres (OCs), at the Windfall mine site and in Montreal. These operational functions include mine operations, maintenance, ore processing plants, backfill, tailings and water management, as well as tele-operations components. You will support the Windfall project through the construction, commissioning and mine operation phases. The objectives are to develop and manage a team of control room operators aligned with the integrated operations philosophy. Position based in Montreal with regular visits to the Windfall site.
Tasks and responsabilities
Participate in the hiring, training, development and management of OC operators;- Develop and improve OC work methods or workflows, standards and procedures; participate in mapping and documenting operational processes;
- Coordinate daily OC activities to ensure efficient, compliant and safe operations across all areas;
- Ensure effective communication between the OC and other departments, support incident management, and provide technical and administrative support to OC personnel;
- Supervise and support tele-operations operators.
This role will require interaction with many stakeholders. As such, you will be expected to:
- Work with international experts to adopt best practices used across Gold Fields
- Work with mine operations, geology, plants, maintenance, the technology group and administrative functions to develop and support operational excellence
- Work with equipment manufacturers and suppliers to integrate operational technologies and support their use
- Work with the commissioning, training and operational readiness teams to define OC operator roles and responsibilities
Required skills
More than 10 years of experience managing or operating a control room or operations centre, ideally in the mining industry- Excellent skills in team management, performance management and conflict resolution
- Strong proficiency with technology and troubleshooting capabilities
- Experience defining and developing roles, responsibilities and tasks
- College diploma in a relevant field
- Bilingual, with the ability to communicate with clients and stakeholders in French and English
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with various functions and areas of responsibility.
