Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dock hand to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining safety and orderliness in our facilities, ensuring a welcoming environment for both guests and staff. This position is essential in upholding our standards of hospitality, contributing to an exceptional experience for all.
Duties
- Greet boats upon arrive and assist with safe docking.
- Give boaters orientation to the marina and its facilities.
- Man fuel station and assist with fueling of boats.
- Ensure safe, spill free fueling.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to guest requests promptly and courteously.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to management immediately.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality service.
- Assist Dock Supervisor as necessary.
- Other duties may include, assisting in restaurant, watering, weeding planters, mowing, unloading stock, waste removal, cleaning and assisting Managers / Dock Supervisor with maintenance or other tasks.
Requirements
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience in a marina or knowledge of boats.
- Knowledge of boating terminology and safety practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly demeanor.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks for extended periods.
- Standing, walking for extended periods.
- Must be willing to remain on site for duration of employment
About Us
- We are a remote marina off the west coast of Vancouver Island. We are a totally self sustained floating community with fuel dock, Store, Laundry, Restaurant, Public showers, Fitness Room and Public Social areas as well as 3000' of dock space for boats of all sizes.
What we offer
- Travel allowance to and from the Marina at the start and end of employment contract.
- All food and housing is provided by the Marina. In addition to this while the restaurant is open (July- August) lunch and dinner is prepared for the staff by our Chef.
- Monthly salary.
- Monthly performance bonuses Up to $250.
- Retention bonus on completion of contract term equal to $250 per month of contract.
- Equal share of General Gratuities. (Shared by all employees of the Marina)
- Employees with proper skill sets and good customer service skills will be given the opportunity to assist with Restaurant dinner service up to 3 days a week. (serving, kitchen help, etc)
Ideal Candidate
- Student or Semi retired person who is energetic and enjoys being part of a small, closely knit team.
- Willing to commit to 10-12 week contract (July to end of August).
- Enjoys the outdoors the ocean and nature.
- Is comfortable remaining in the marina and being away from family and friends for the duration of contract.

Contract length: 8-10 weeks
Pay: $4,000.00-$4,500.00 per month
