Canadian Rail Equipment Works and Services Inc. was established in 2012. Since then, we have expanded to offer railcar storage, switching services, and transloading services, among other freight rail services. CREWS also offers operating services providing in-plant switching and railcar placement. We are currently operating on multiple industrial owned infrastructures in Eastern Ontario, with our own switching crews and equipment to accommodate our customers’ needs.

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Checking notices and planning movements;
· Operating track switches;
· Coupling and uncoupling freight cars;
· Inspecting cars and equipment;
· Communicating effectively with crew to assist with operations;
· Completing inventory checks and reports;
· Appling rules, special instructions, and loading and switching procedures while operating as a Brakeman including operating switches and derails, coupling and uncoupling rail cars, managing air hoses, applying and releasing handbrakes;
· Complying with all applicable operating rules, loading and switching procedures and regulations imposed by government, the customer, and/or CREWS; practicing and promoting safe work habits;
· Servicing the job site with regular maintenance and complying with good cleanliness and housekeeping standards, and;
· Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Diploma, or equivalent;
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record;
· Pass and maintain Fit for Duty for Safety Critical Positions;
· Prepared to work in adverse weather conditions;
· May be required to lift 60lbs-80lbs;
· Good hand-eye coordination;
· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
· Must be able to pass Safety and Rules courses and exams, read and understand safety instructions, and other written and/or printed material;
· Must be able to work as a member of a team, while still being able to make decisions as an individual, depending on the task at hand;
· Strong attention to detail, and;
· Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, overtime and holidays as needed.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
· Previous railway experience or experience in an industrial setting/safety-sensitive position;
· Current and valid Canadian Rail Operating Rules certificate;
· Current and valid Transportation of Dangerous Goods training;
· Current and valid Standard First Aid & CPR C + AED training;
· Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook);
· Post-secondary education.
