Duties
- Apply stains and glazes to ceramic restorations with precision, enhancing their color, translucency, and surface texture for a lifelike appearance
- Follow detailed instructions from dentists or lab technicians to achieve specific aesthetic outcomes
- Use laboratory equipment such as microscopes, micrometers, and CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to refine restorations and ensure accurate fit and finish
- Maintain strict infection control and aseptic techniques throughout all fabrication processes
- Collaborate with dental technicians and lab staff to troubleshoot issues related to ceramic layering or glazing techniques
- Document all procedures accurately in medical records and dental fabrication logs, adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Ensure compliance with dental terminology standards and laboratory protocols for quality assurance
Experience
- Proven laboratory experience in dental fabrication, specifically with staining and glazing of ceramic restorations
- Knowledge of dental anatomy, medical imaging, and dental terminology to accurately interpret prescriptions and aesthetic requirements
- Familiarity with dental office systems such as EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic for seamless communication with clinical teams
- Experience with CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design/Manufacturing) technology used in modern dental labs
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and laboratory safety protocols
- Ability to assess patient needs through understanding of vital signs, medical documentation, and patient assessment procedures when applicable
- Prior experience working with pediatric patients or in pediatric dentistry is a plus but not required
